A new restaurant is slated to open at 1400 Race Street in the Saengerhalle building by early November. Zula Restaurant & Wine Bar is a “modern, relaxed restaurant” that focuses on pairing great wine and craft beer with its eclectic menu. Chef and owner Tsvika (Vik) Silberberg shared with the OTR blog a few of Zula’s special features including:
- A large communal table with an adjacent chef station where chefs will prepare all cold tapas in front of the guests much like a sushi station
- State of the art, large wood-burning oven that will produce an array of unique food items including specialty flat breads
- Mussel bar
- Open kitchen
- Enclosed patio
According to this November 2002 Cincinnati Magazine story, the Israeli-born Silberberg has worked and trained in Paris, Milan and San Francisco and has served as the executive chef and general manager of The Celestial and Rookwood Pottery Bistro.
Zula will occupy the corner location of the Saengerhalle building at W. 14th St. and Race St. across from the the soon-to-open The Anchor-OTR and the very popular Washington Park.
