Sarah Jessica Parker at Sloane Boutique in Over-the-Rhine (1)

Duru Armagan, owner of Sloane Boutique, hosted some high profile shoppers this weekend. Sarah Jessica Parker and other well-known women stopped in Sloane Boutique (1216 Vine St.) after getting to know Armagan one-on-one at a women’s luncheon earlier in the day.

The Sex and the City star and native Cincinnatian was in town campaigning for President Obama along with the the President’s Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett and other successful women. Armagan was invited because she’s a young female entrepreneur who has found success starting and running a business in a tough economy.

After the luncheon, which Armagan described as both “surreal” and “an honor to attend,” the entourage headed to Sloane where there was a lot of chatting and shopping.

Topics of conversation included what inspired Armagan, how she was able to open the store, and how well she and her neighboring businesses were performing.

In an interview with Channel 9, Armagan stated: “Businesses like mine and my neighboring businesses are doing very well. The neighborhood is thriving and more and more people are opening businesses. Over-the-Rhine is proof that the economy is getting better.” You can view the interview in the video clip at the bottom of this post (1:45).

Armagan was also interviewed by Entertainment Tonight for a segment which will air tonight (Monday) at 7:30pm.

Congratulations to Ms. Armagan. I’m in complete agreement with her politics. I love the coverage she got from Ms. Parker’s visit. Get plugs for OTR, too. But I do wish someone at the shop would invest in a camera with autofocus.
