“We wanted to do something fun this Christmas season in the neighborhood, and the idea of a Christmas choir festival really took off.” Said Dave Kohake, co-owner of American Legacy Tours.
After the success of the Spirit of Christmas Tour last year American Legacy Tours met with Brother Tim at St. Francis. From that meeting grew the idea of a Christmas Festival.
“I think during it was during one of the tours in which people broke out into signing Christmas songs was when we thought it would be neat to have caroling and singing as part of the tour, and so in our meeting we with Brother Tim, we came up with this idea” Said Kohake.
After the meeting the group researched the World Choir Games, spending days and nights at the different events to learn more about choirs and operations.
“We saw a lot of choirs performing in churches, if there is one thing that Over-The-Rhine has, it is a lot of churches and we have pretty good relationship with those that run them” Said Mac Cooley, tour guide. “We thought if the churches were as open to this idea it could be a real win for the community.”
The Christmas Saengerfestival will feature over 20 Choirs and over 40 performances. In addition to hearing great choral music by Muse, Cincinnati Sound, the Men’s Choir, and more, festival goers can visit Christian Moerlien’s new brewery operation and
have a beer there or Memorial Hall.
