BaserMatter Mixes Design and Fabrication

If you’ve visited Second Sunday on Main this summer, you’ve probably seen BaserMatter. Its unique presence is hard to miss.

Founded by Jeff Welch and Nathan Currier-Groh in 2011, BaserMatter is an experimental design studio specializing in custom products, interiors and architecture. Services offered include:

Design – Both industrial design and architectural services on commission as well as a growing offering of limited production, customized products.
CNC Routing – 4×8 sheet material profile cutting and 3D material carving up to 6” thick
Printing – 36” width, – Watercolor, Lithograph and Photo papers as well as Canvas and Veneers
Laser Cutting – Coming soon!

Located at 1009 Hulbert Avenue (above Vulkane Industrial Arts), BaserMatter’s office is a cool space optimized for design and fabrication. The CNC mill occupies its own room while the design, printing and sales are handled in the rest of the light-filled studio.

BaserMatter hired artist and architecture student Mark Specker to create a wall-sized mural to brighten up the studio. The entire project was chronicled in photos here.
